Protracted Labor
Protracted labor includes a slower than normal rate of cervical dilation or a delayed descent of the fetal head in the active phase of labor. This condition must be diagnosed and treated appropriately including with Pitocin or c-section. Failure to do so may cause injury to mom and baby. Mom may suffer pain and subsequent hemorrhage and baby may suffer distress.
