Safety & Health Inspectors for New York Construction Workers

In order to ensure that there are safe and healthful working conditions safety and health inspectors must be permitted without delay, and at reasonable times, to enter any building, installation, facility, construction site, or other area, workplace, or environment where work is performed by employees. This purpose is to inspect and investigate during regular working hours any such place of employment and all pertinent conditions, structures, machines, apparatus, devices, equipment, and materials therein, and to question those in charge.

At the conclusion of an inspection, the Safety and Health Inspector discusses with the official in charge of the workplace, and informally advises them of any apparent unsafe or unhealthful working conditions disclosed by the inspection. This is done for the protection of the workers at the worksite, and failure to abide by the recommendations of the Safety and Health Inspector, or cure any conditions that they assess to be dangerous, can lead to serious injury and even death.
