Cephalopelvic Disproportion
Cephalopelvic disproportion is when the mom's pelvis is too small to allow the fetus to go through the birth canal. This may be due to a small pelvis, a large fetus, or a combination of these.
Cephalopelvic disproportion can cause fetal distress, prolonged labor, brain injury, brachial plexus injuries due to shoulder dystocia (baby's shoulder is stuck) and other birth injuries if it is not recognized and dealt with appropriately.
