Defective Tire Accidents
One of the most common types of tire failure is due to a tread separation. Tread separation is the result of the plies of a tire separating from one another. Some tire manufacturers have known about the dangers of the tires for years but have failed to properly warn the consumers of the risks. A report that was released in October 2001 from the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration said that the tread separations studied in accidents reduced the ability of a driver to control the vehicle, especially when the tire failure occurred on a rear tire and at high speeds. There was a much greater likelihood for death, injury, and crashes resulting when the tread separation occurred.
A vehicle rollover can occur when a tread separation or tire blowout results in a vehicle losing control or rolling over because of the high center of gravity, as in an SUV. A recent report released in October showed that there was a much greater likelihood for death, injury, and crashes resulting when the tread separation occurred on an SUV.
