Are Some New York City Intersections More Dangerous Than Others?

A: According to a recent report in the New York Daily News, one of the most dangerous Manhattan intersections is where Delancey Street meets Essex.

Over the past dozen years, there have been 523 motor vehicle crashes at this New York City intersection including:

  • 134 crashes involving pedestrians or bicyclists
  • 20 truck wrecks
  • 258 injuries
  • 3 fatalities

Why is this intersection so dangerous? One of the reasons may be extensive construction that has taken place in this location. The City has plans to make the intersection safer by reformatting the streets and providing for longer pedestrian crossing signals.

Of course, Delancey and Essex is not the only dangerous intersection in Manhattan. New York City intersection accidents are not uncommon and can cause serious injuries or fatalities.

If you have been hurt, or if you have lost a loved one, at the corner of Delancey and Essex or on any other New York City street, you may have the right to recover damages.
